Glenda --
Eric asked me if he can come out and stay with me this summer! I told him yes, if Mom would pay the air fare, or train fare. I think he'd love taking a train, and it would be a beautiful trip. The Beatles said the time they enjoyed America the best was this once when they came into the states unannounced and took a secret train ride all the way from New York to California in winter. They couldn't believe the vast, empty beauty of Kansas and the mountains out in Colorado. I'm glad they got to do that amidst all their claustrophobic fame.
Eric has gotten more interested in me in the last 2 years (since I left). He wants to talk, and now to visit. I used to be afraid he'd not even like me (nor me him) when he got older, but this is a relief. Mom should be done painting the house by now, so we can worry about her next project - levelling the hill behind the house with a hoe.
All y'all Shonkwilers are crazyfied in the headpan. I consider myself three-quarter Zempter, and only an eighth Shonk. Don't tell ennybuddy. I'll kill ye. By the by, I'm reincarnated. I'm Dennis the Mennis, so you'll know.
I hope the uneasy truce between you and your Latest can end gently when you leave him, if you do. It's a shame there are so many familiar, doomed patterns in the course of your relationship. I shouldn't say that. It's not for me to understand. It's just that, when a guy gets sweeter after you get distant, that's so old, and so futile for both of you. Well, it's no tragedy or error - people have to try living with someone, more than one someone, to see what they're like and to learn about themselves and their personality under the stresses of love. Even happiness creates stress. You get almost as many stress points by being married as you do by being thrown in jail, from what I've read lately. It's the stresses that give life its flavor, and make it the wild and various experience it is, hopefully. I'm glad you've had this time, because it helps open you up to new experiences, and if you're like me, you'll finally be able to exert your will over your own behavior to some degree once you've gotten into something you really desire. I'll shut my face about it. I have a brain the size of a walnut. But my heart's as big as a pea!
